On the 7th January 1915 in the Temperence Hall, Monaghan, George Jeffreys met with six young men: Albert Kerr, George Allen, Frederick Farlow, Robert and John Mercer and William Henderson. They came together , the minutes book of the Elim Evangelistic band records “for the purpose of discussing the best means of reaching Ireland with the full Gospel on Pentecostal lines”
From these humble beginnings across the century the denomination that Oasis Christian Centre, Beeston is a member traces its roots back to that “defining moment” and is now The Elim Pentecostal Church. With 600 churches in cities, towns and rural communities across the UK. A growing global network of some 9,000 churches and ministers partnering together to reach Nations for Christ.

At the end of the month, on the 25th I thank the Lord for 30 years of ministry pastoring churches in Garston, Liverpool, Southport in Merseyside, Greenock in Scotland and now here at Beeston in Nottingham.
On a very cold night in Garston Pastor Aubrey Whittal the senior Pastor preached the message at my induction telling me, and the gathered congregation made up of a coach full of people from my home church in Gloucester, people from the presbytery and the handful from the local church, “Do not despise the days of small beginnings” Zechariah 4:10 “for The Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” He told me not to hate the beginning of the journey, to not be discontent or impatient with how far I have yet to go. To be content and enjoy the journey – No destination in sight. To value people on the journey and to build The Kingdom of God. To become all God created me to become and to take hold of me for.
I thank Father God for the Defining moments over the last 30 years.
Last Wednesday, 7th January, along with 600 Elim leaders, I renewed my vows, consecrating myself to serve The Lord Jesus Christ for all the days that are yet to be written through my life’s journey into eternity. Looking back the 30 years have gone by so quickly! The second coming of Jesus nearer. the marriage of Jesus as Saviour, Healer, Baptiser in the Holy Spirit and coming King is as True and Relevant as it has ever been.
May this year of 2015 be a year sprinkled with defining moments in or lives, in the lives of those with whom we live and move, and in the lives of whom we are yet to meet….
For the Glory of the Living God!
Please Pray for me and those at The Oasis Christian Centre.
Praying for you, with love and every good wish.
