On Monday 4th August we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the commencement of World War I. An event that changed our world forever.
On the Sunday previous to that, the 3rd August, Jill Yates is leading our All Age Worship service that has that anniversary as its theme. On that day we will be giving out replica copies of the John’s Gospel that were given to each and every serviceman. At the front is a message from Lord Roberts dated 25th August 1914 he says “I ask you to put your trust in God. He will watch over you and strengthen you. you will find in this little book, guidance when you are in health, comfort when you are in sickness and strength when you are in adversity.” Testimonies have also been added into this edition that speak of God’s love, presence and intervention.
As a nation we are being asked on Monday 4th to light candle at 10pm, turn off all the lighting and remember that 100 years ago “lights went out all over Britain.”
So during our service on the 3rd we will also be giving you a tea light to help mark this event.
We thank God for all those that gave their tomorrows so that we could have our today.
Jesus Christ is the Great “I Am” The I Am the Bread of life and The I Am Light of the world. Like those you will read about we have the privilege of being able to know Jesus personally in our lives. For all of us he is only a prayer away. He wants us to know the personal assurance that we are His and His forever. E njoy reading John’s Gospel and meeting Jesus. If I can be of any assistance please don’t hesitate to contact me.
With every good wish
