Looking Towards The Future

We are committed to seeing men, women, young people and children become true followers of Jesus Christ. Our program seeks to develop spiritual maturity, to help equip and release people to serve in The Kingdom of God.

The Lord has given us the Mission Statement, and vision to become "The Oasis: A safe place in the Community for the Community" We seek "As repairers of broken walls and restorers of streets with dwellings" (Isaiah 58:11-12)....

- To be welcoming to people of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities.
- To be practical and relevant.
- To help people answer their deepest questions.
- To bring helpful and challenging ministry offering time to stop and think.
- To offer the chance for a new start, discovering God’s love, acceptance and forgiveness.
- To bring Christian believers to maturity for works of service, that bear much fruit, to The Father's Glory.

We meet on Sunday morning as a church family for Bible teaching, praise, worship and occasionally communion. During the 10.30am service the children have their own Bible teaching in Junior Church. Once a month we have an All Age Worship Service. Evening services are a time for proclaiming the Good News of Jesus and for being stimulated in the Christian Life.

Mid-week, we meet in small groups for fellowship in various homes. Discipleship training courses are conducted helping to lay a foundation for faith. Personal evangelism is encouraged, regular meetings for prayer are organised, various childrens and youth activities take place.

The Oasis is an Elim Pentecostal Church. The name Elim is taken from the book of Exodus (15:27) an Oasis in the wilderness. That is what we seek to be as we preach the message of Jesus Christ, a message of salvation, refreshing and healing for the body, soul and spirit in the wilderness of this world.

Elim began, through the ministry of George Jeffreys in the county of Monaghan, Ireland in 1915. Founded on the four square gospel principles of Jesus our Saviour, Healer, Baptiser in the Holy Spirit and Coming King. It grew rapidly as a result of the great evangelistic crusades and is now serving Jesus in many parts of the world, as well as this nation.

Pastor Nigel Yates is responsible for the spiritual oversight of the fellowship; its development and direction.

Nigel, together with his wife Jill, have pastored at Oasis since July 1994.

The Finance committee consisting of the Eldership, Alan Haigh (a deacon) and Wayne Pearce, is responsible for the administration of all financial matters. Ten per cent of the General offerings are given through the "Special Account" to various Christian ministries and those in need. Ten per cent is given to Elim headquarters. The remainder is used to extend God’s Kingdom through the general ministry of the Oasis.

We seek to work together as a Body releasing God's giftedness. Our earnest desire is to reach people of all ages with the Good News about Jesus. To disciple His people and fulfill our mission statement.
