The Rag’n’bone man won the 2017 Brit Awards breakthrough act. His single titled ‘Human’ repeats the phrase “I’m only human after all, don’t put your blame on me, don’t put your blame on me” as if to say the things we do wrong are excusable because of our humanity. In other words, we are who we are, chained to our DNA. But there is one who willingly took the blame, who willingly said “DO put your blame on me” and that person was Jesus.
Jesus was 100% God 100% human. He had to be to become the one we could put all our blame and shame on to. He took it all willingly because He loves us. We don’t need to say “don’t put the blame on me” because Jesus took the blame FOR me. We are only human but the one and only blameless human gave himself to give us a blame free heaven and, by faith, a blame free earth. Let’s live in the freedom of this truth this week.
