May The Lord Jesus Christ bless you.

Welcome to May 2009 Blog of Oasis Christian Centre, Beeston

On Sunday 17th May we are taking part in the "Turn on the Tap - Walk for Water" event. For us, at Oasis, this will involve meeting at the car park at Attenborough Nature Reserve at 9.45am for a 10am start and a 4 mile walk along the riverside to Beeston Rylands, up Trent Road, over the footbridge, up Dovecote Lane, up to the High Road, then along the High Road to arrive through the front door of Oasis.

4 Miles is the average walk for a person in Africa to make to fetch clean water.

Our morning worship will begin when we arrive at Oasis, which will be open for those not walking, to share fellowship together, pray and meditate. After the service we are taking part in the Annual Cake week to support the M.S. Society - cake, coffee and tea will be served - with an opportunity to make a donation!! There will also be a small craft stall.

This year is the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin. 150 years since he printed his book 'Origin of the Species' Lee Glazier is preaching on the subject of 'Creation' during our 10.30am Services on Sunday 10th and Sunday 24th May. Everyone is welcome.

Vicky Gibson, wife of Pastor Ryan has completed her course at Regents Theological College and attends College Commissioning Day on Saturday 2nd May.

On Saturday 9th we are hosting a Regional Meeting of supporters of The Bible Society. Bob Rideout will be sharing his experiences in Ghana, where he handed out Bibles to Secondary School children. The Bible Society is now half way through the project to give every Secondary School young person their own copy of The Bible. We start at 9.30am with coffee.

Also on Saturday 9th Pat Rideout (starting at 10am) is holding a Card Making morning in aid of the M.S. Society.

We are really excited about being able to host "New Beginnings Arts Course" commencing on Wednesday 6th May for people over 18 and below retirement age who are no longer able to work. 1.30pm to 3.30pm - £2 a session. Access is from the Union Street entrance. Parking for the disabled is available on Union Street. This is being run in conjunction with the 'Arts Council of England'.

Steve & Lyn have returned from their work, in China, with children. They will be sharing something of their experience during the Sunday morning service on 3rd May.

Olu is also back from teaching in Gambia.

Pastor Nigel and Jeff are preparing to go to visit, and minister amongst the Elim Pentecostal Churches in Guyana, from mid June.

It is exciting to be in Christ Jesus. To be serving Christ Jesus. To be a witness for Christ Jesus.

With every good wish - Pastor Nigel
