May The Lord Jesus Christ bless you.

From The Pastor's Desk - Summer 2010

This Bible verse has long been one of my favourites as I have reflected on the life and experiences of the Eagle, seeking to draw spiritual lessons from them into my own life.

Last Summer we were privileged to go on holiday to Florida as a family. One of the highlights was sitting at the back of the house, by the pool, in the mornings, having breakfast and watching the Eagles soaring on the thermals. The power, elegance and regal nature of these Eagles were astounding.

One morning a large group of birds flew over, they all appeared to soar, and I marvelled that so many Eagles had come to visit me! However as I watched it became obvious that they were not all Eagles - they flapped their wings instead of soaring. The Lord said - Nigel do not flap - Soar!!!!!

That was the lesson of the holiday that I have sought to draw into my life during this year. There have been plenty of challenges; changes; concerns and dilemmas that have given me opportunity to flap. I would be lying if I said I had never flapped! The Eagle, and this verse remind me to - come into The Waiting Room - with Father God, in The Name of Jesus, and allow The Holy Spirit to strengthen; enable; re-fortify.

This summer join me in taking time to soar. To catch thermal of the breath of God, to choose not to flap!

With every good wish, Pastor Nigel
