WELCOME TO THE OASIS CHRISTIAN CENTRE
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. (Ecclesiastes 3:11a)
“I know that there is nothing better for man than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil – this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that man will revere Him.” (Ecclesiastes 3:12-14)

From The Pastor’s Desk……
As I begin to write to you I wish that I was sat in your front room face to face. Covid days have made face to face conversations impossible, or difficult, for us.
For some time Jill and I have been journeying with The Lord and with an increasing sense of knowing that it is time to lay down the baton of leadership of the Oasis Christian Centre, Beeston. Two and a half years ago I sensed in my spirit that it would be right to retire on my 60th birthday. And so I am writing to say that we will be farewelling from Oasis on Sunday 5th September. My birthday is on the 28th but I have accrued 3 weeks holiday.
We have given everything, from The Lord, in serving here. We love you all so dearly. This is hard for all of us. But we know that it is the right timing.
When Abbie graduated from Stirling University I took note of a banner, knowing that the words would help somewhere, sometime. That somewhere is here. That sometime is now:
“Don’t shed tears because it’s over,
Smile because it happened.”
On Sunday 25th July at 10.30am we will be back together, as a Community of Believers in the Oasis building in Willoughby Street. A time of Thanksgiving to The Lord for His Faithfulness, Kindness, Love and Compassion – not just during Covid times but over the last 27 years of our being in Beeston. We will be able to sing too!
At the Servants Council Meeting last Monday (5th July) we agreed to co-opt Wayne Pearce on to the Council for this season. Please pray for Carol, Lee and Wayne as they, together with Paul Hudson (our Regional Leader) seek to make an appointment of Pastor. Pray for Sharon, our Administrator as she facilitates the day to day running of the Oasis.
Jill and I have no plans, beyond resting and recuperating. We will still live locally for the foreseeable future. Jill will continue her nursing roles. So, we appreciate your prayers for us – as we will be praying for you. King Solomon wrote (Ecclesiastes 5:3a) “A dream comes when there are many cares.” May The Lord give each of us His dream.
With every good wish,
