Testimony – Len Colebourne
Psalm 139 is one of many of my favourite passages of Scripture. This Psalm very clearly indicates that the Lord knows everything there is to know about us, this being so, before we were conceived in our mother’s womb and there is nothing hidden from Him. Also it doesn’t matter how hard we try to get away from the truth of this, we can’t. We see from this Psalm how much He loves us and how much He cares and thinks about us. He also desires the best for each and every one of us. All through my walk with the Lord I have found this to be true. When important decisions have needed to be made, He has always been there to help me make the right decision, no matter how important or not so important they may have been. This has been my experience throughout my Christian walk with the Lord, many major decisions, Pat and I have had to make, and He has helped us with them all.
April has been an important month all through our Christian walk. On April 9th 1960, as a nineteen year old, I made a decision to follow the Lord Jesus as my saviour; this was at a Youth for Christ meeting in Nottingham.
So this year I celebrate my 55 birthday. All through that time He has never failed me once, even though many times I have let Him down.
It was 4 years ago on April 3rd 2011 that the Lord spoke very loud and clear to both Pat and me. We had been attending the Oasis at Beeston a short period of time; we came that Sunday morning, not expecting what happened at the end of that morning service. At the end of the service, our Pastor, Pastor Nigel gave a Word of Knowledge, it was as if he had been reading the script of our life, things we had actually said were spoken out by him, not just once but a number of times, we had to respond to this direct word to both of us. We went out to the front and confirmed to him that it was Pat and I he had been speaking to. This was to be a new start in both of our lives. As we have continued attending the Oasis at Beeston we have been well and truly blessed, things have happened in our lives to restore and encourage us, and Pastor Nigel has played a big part in that as well as many of our new found friends. You only know who your real friends are when you come under pressure and face difficulties. We want to thank you all for the way you have accepted us into the Fellowship and for the love that you have shown to us, thank you all so much.
On March 1st this year I had another wonderful experience, our visiting speaker was Trevor Partington, our own Pastor was taking the Communion part of the service, I was one of the servers, as we returned the emblems to him he prayed first for Rita and then for me, as he prayed for me he put his right hand on my chest, I went down on the floor under the power of the Holy Spirit. On getting up and being helped back to my chair I felt different. The following Tuesday I asked Pastor why he had put his hand on my chest whilst he prayed for me, he said for a blocked artery, I then told him that from the Thursday evening before the Sunday I had been having pains in my chest through to my back due to my hiatus hernia, and the pains had gone. It is now over 5 weeks since he prayed for me, and the pains are still gone, praise the Lord, our God is so good. These times are very exciting times, the Lord is beginning to move and we are sensing the move of the Holy Spirit. We are praying for the Lord to move even more among us.
The Lord bless you all,
love Pat and Len.
