Last Sunday, Pastor Nigel spoke about Jesus, the King of Life. He took us to Lazarus’ tomb and Martha’s King James quote “Lord, by this time he (Lazarus) stinketh for he hath been dead four days” (John 11:39 KJV). As Nigel enacted Jesus bringing Lazarus back from the dead by unwrapping Lazarus’ grave clothes, the thought occurred to me that every Christian has gone through this process of rebirth at Jesus’ hand. This is the process of going from “I stinketh” (because of my sin) to Jesus washing me clean and giving me new life as a child of God. Jesus, the King of Life, has the power to take what was old and make it new, to take what “stinketh” and make it clean, to take the dead and make it alive. Imagine Jesus unwrapping your grave clothes, fix your eyes on Him and feel alive in Christ.
